How to Login

Logins to the ARL DSRC systems are achieved through the use of Kerberos tickets generated by using a Kerberos principal, password and SecurID passcode. The following sections on Kerberos will explain the purpose of this security mechanism and how to use it to safely access our resources.

Once you have Kerberos tickets, there are several different login mechanisms depending on what your desktop machine is. If you are using a PC it is suggested you use the DOD HPCMPO distributed version of PuTTY for logins. One limitation to using PuTTY is that graphical displays will not be presented on your PC from the HPC systems. To accomplish this, we recommend the use of either Exceed or Cygwin (both discussed later). If you are accessing our resources from a Unix box, please use the rlogin, krlogin and ktelnet commands that came with the distribution for your OS.
