On the Road
Army High Performance Computing Exhibits at the 25 Army Science Conference, Nov 27-30, Orlando, FL
The High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) provides the high performance computing services, high-speed network communications, and computational science expertise that enables Department of Defense laboratories and test centers to conduct a wide range of focused research, development, and test activities. This partnership puts advanced technology in the hands of U.S. forces more quickly and cost-effectively and with a greater certainty of success.
The contributions of High Performance Computing to the Army will be showcased at the 25th Army Science Conference, sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), (ASAALT), held at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, November 27-30, 2006.
The 3,600 square feet High Performance Computing booth at the Army Science Conference hosting state-of-the-art display stations will showcase many Army systems that were developed, tested, modeled and analyzed on the resources provided by the HPCMP. Demonstrations will show how HPC contributed to the Army's mission critical programs.
There will be an interactive HPC kiosk that will allow attendees to use computing tools and HPC resources to design, model, and test a choice of Army systems. A large History of Computing wall will chart the Army's supercomputer revolution and the impacting contributions made to the soldier.
The coordination and development of the Army Science Conference HPC booth is led by Mr. Charles Nietubicz, Director of the Army Research Laboratory Major Shared Resource Center (ARL MSRC) and supported by team members of the ARL MSRC. Contributors to the HPC booth demonstrations include ASAALT Organizations, US Army Research, Development & Engineering Command, ARL MSRC, the Army Engineer Research & Development Center MSRC, the Army High Performance Computing Research Center, the Space & Missile Defense Command, Aberdeen Test Center, HPCMP User Productivity Enhancement and Technology Transfer (PET) program and the HPCMP High Performance Computing Software Applications Institutes, and others.
In addition to the HPC booth, the ARL MSRC team has taken the lead to provide Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) connectivity to the Army Science Conference and ViPR (Virtual Presence) technology to support keynote presentations from the Pentagon.
