Consolidated DoD HPCMP Visualization SupportHPCMP Data Analysis and Assessment Center (DAAC)
Data analysis and visualization efforts at the US Army Research Laboratory is focused on providing the facilities, software tools and the experience to enable the understanding of physics-based computations by researchers. The DAAC is tasked to develop new techniques for exploiting high-performance computing technology; promote the use of data analysis within DoD; make visualization technology available to DoD researchers and prepare video presentations in support of DoD projects.
One of the questions the DAAC frequently receives is "How can I create professional looking visualizations of my data without asking for help every time?" In response to this request, an extensive amount of documentation, tutorials, and "How-To Guides" have been developed in conjunction with our partners at the ERDC DAAC and are available from a common location at http://daac.hpc.mil that we hope will assist the customers of the ARL DSRC use the provided tools more effectively.
The ARL DAAC has focused a significant amount of effort in deploying a production quality software application environment focused on the support of the most widely used visualization and analysis tools used within the HPCMP. The commercial package EnSight has been in use at ARL for almost twenty years and has been a reliable tool in visualizing computational results in an HPC environment. The open-source packages ParaView and VisIt have developed into robust, multi-featured production-quality applications and are widely used within the defense, energy and academic environments. Below are quick links to the DAAC website which includes video tutorials and other documentation developed by the DAAC teams at ARL and ERDC.
